This half-day course from Surrey Chambers of Commerce is designed to provide UK exporters and importers with a thorough understanding of customs procedures and the necessary documentation required for international trade. Participants will learn about the customs process, essential documentation and compliance requirements.

  • Understanding the import/export cycle.
  • Basic concepts: tariffs, duties, and taxes.

10:15 – 11:00 | Essential Documentation for Exporters and Importers

  • Overview of key documents: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, etc.
  • Detailed walkthrough of each documentโ€™s purpose and content.
  • How to accurately complete and submit documentation.
  • Electronic documentation and the role of the Customs Declaration Service (CDS).

11:15 – 11:45 | Compliance and Regulatory Requirements

  • Understanding UK customs regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Key concepts: HS codes, customs valuation, and trade agreements.
