The future of work in Surrey: Building partnerships and funding change
We invite you to join us for a collaborative workshop to continue the important conversations begun at the recent Surrey Skills Conference, led by Surrey County Council and Surrey Chambers of Commerce – and turn these into actionable community projects. Together, we will explore how Surrey can respond to the county’s evolving skills needs and workforce challenges.
This event is hosted by Surrey’s three leading Universities –University of Surrey, Royal Holloway, University of London, and the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), all connected via Surrey’s Civic Agreement. It’s a collective initiative to maximise the impact of our excellent research to best prepare our region for future challenges in the workplace.
This event is funded by Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) through both the University of Surrey and Royal Holloway, University of London. It is also funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) through the IAA at the University for the Creative Arts.
This event is free to attend, but places are limited.
What to expect
The day will feature presentations from leading researchers on work and skills. You’ll take part in a collaborative workshop to meet academics and professionals with complementary expertise to identify opportunities to work together.
Delegates will be invited to apply for small-scale impact funding (up to £10,000) to develop initiatives aligned with the event’s theme. More details about the funding process will be shared after the event.
A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
The day will be facilitated by Laura Evans-Hill of Nifty Fox Creative, whose team will also capture key themes and ideas through live illustration.
Who is this for?
This workshop is open to professionals from local government, education, business, charities, and skills organisations. Academics from the University of Surrey, Royal Holloway University of London, and the University for the Creative Arts are also welcome, as this workshop presents an excellent opportunity to meet external partners and explore collaborative research and impact projects.
We recommend no more than two people per organisation due to limited capacity.
*Not in Education, Employment, or Training
