Rules of Origin
This intensive half-day course is designed to provide UK exporters and importers with a foundational understanding of Rules of Origin. Participants will gain essential knowledge on how these rules impact their trade operations and how to ensure compliance with international trade agreements.

- Regulations: All courses will include any regulatory changes made from July 2024 by the new UK government.

- Distinction between Preferential and Non-Preferential Rules of Origin.
- Overview of key concepts such as “Wholly Obtained” and “Substantial Transformation”.
- Examples and interactive discussion.
10:15 – 11:00 | Determining the Origin of Goods
- Introduction to Harmonized System (HS) Codes.
- Criteria for determining origin: Change in Tariff Classification, Value-Added Rule, Specific Processing Operations.
- Examples on classifying goods.
- Case studies to illustrate different scenarios.

11:15 – 11:45 | Documentation and Certification
- Overview of necessary documentation: Certificates of Origin, commercial invoices, and more.
- Understanding Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status.
- Electronic certification processes and resources.
11:45 – 12:15 | Rules of Origin in Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)
- Overview of key FTAs involving the UK (e.g., UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement, UK).
- Practical implications for exporters and importers.
- Group discussion and Interactive Q&A session.
12:15 – 12:30 | Conclusion and Wrap-Up
- Recap of key points covered.
