Surrey Careers Hub
Surrey Careers Hub nurtures tomorrow’s talent by building links between local employers and education providers to inspire Surrey’s next-generation workforce.
How it works
Surrey Careers Hub – which sits within Surrey County Council and part-funded by The Careers & Enterprise Company – is one of 44 Careers Hubs across England.
Surrey Careers Hub works with schools, colleges, employers, training providers, and partners to deliver consistent, high-quality careers programmes aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks.
The Surrey Careers Hub works to:
- improve careers education
- ensure a consistent and high-quality careers programme for all young people
- enable schools and colleges to access careers training and support
- make it easier for schools and colleges to prepare young people for their best next steps
Key to the work of the Surrey Careers Hub is providing insights into the world of work and employer opportunities. These ensure young people feel confident entering the workplace equipped with skills for the 21st century.
How you can get involved
Employers and volunteers are crucial to the Careers Hub.
Giving students much needed and valuable exposure to diverse employers and workplaces allows them to meet role models and be inspired about future pathways, jobs, and opportunities.
Working with the education sector is a way for businesses to connect with future talent, play an active role in increasing diversity and help shape the skills of tomorrow’s workforce. Plus, it can also support future recruitment to jobs and apprentices in Surrey.
We offer several ways to get involved – from sharing your personal journey and career insights directly with young people to offering work placements and supporting school leaders in shaping their careers programmes.

The future of work experience
Work experience has been redesigned to give students and employers more meaningful and flexible ways to connect. The aim is for every young person to complete 10 days of impactful experience, with businesses able to choose formats that work for them, such as short visits, hybrid placements, shadowing or project-based activities. For employers, taking part can strengthen your future talent pool, raise your profile among young people and support staff development. It can also bring new ideas into the organisation and contribute to more inclusive hiring approaches.
