Economic Growth Fund

The Surrey Economic Growth Fund is overseen by Surrey County Council with the sole focus of driving economic growth across the region.

Applications for round one are now open and due to close at the end of May 2025. Further rounds may follow this year.

The Surrey Economic Growth Fund is open to a range of groups including:

  • Businesses – including startups and SMEs
  • Partners – including councils, charities, social enterprises and employer groups
  • Universities and research institutions
  • Training providers – including schools and colleges
  • Property and land owners

Those applying are encouraged to demonstrate how the proposal delivers against the three priorities in Surrey’s Economic Growth Strategy 2025 to 2035.

The application process is in two stages, starting with an expression of interest.

Bids will be assessed against a set funding criteria with decisions taken by an independent panel, including business representatives.

Made Smarter South East

The Made Smarter Adoption South East programme connects manufacturing SMEs, makers and creators to industrial digital technologies that can transform the way they work. 

Our fully funded package of support for eligible SMEs includes the opportunity to work with a team of experts to unlock the support you need to grow. We’ll help you create a detailed action plan to digitally transform your business. You could also access training programmes to increase your workforce’s digital skills, match-funded grants to purchase hardware or software, and leadership development support.  

The programme is delivered from April 2025 until the end of March 2026.

Businesses need funding and finance at different stages of their maturity and growth. Here are some suggested resources to help you find the potential funding opportunity that’s right for you.

Reliefs and Reductions

Businesses may be eligible for a range of reliefs and reductions, such as small business rate relief, business rate flooding reliefs, mandatory charitable relief amongst several others.

S100 Angel Investment Club

A not-for-profit club with a focus on creating a strong and connected network of investors and presenting them with the best investment propositions from across the UK. The Club do not charge investors to come along and for companies it is free to apply to be in with a chance of pitching at a club event.

Surrey Hills Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) grants

This provides grants to farmers and land managers in the Surrey Hills for one-off projects to make improvements to the natural environment, climate change mitigation, cultural heritage and public access on their land.

Elmbridge start-up boost

The Elmbridge start-up boost helps start-ups with one off costs such as one-off marketing, purchasing of equipment or anything that would help a business to start operating in Elmbridge. You can apply for a grant of up to 50% of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of £1,000. Applicants are expected to fund at least 50% of each item as part of the project costs.

Elmbridge business boost grants

The business boost grants help Elmbridge businesses, the local high streets and supports the local economy. The grants can help businesses with £2,000 to improve shop fronts, bring back empty shops and upto £1,000 to help town or village wide projects

Elmbridge dgital high street boost

The Elmbridge digital high street boost offers grants to help independent high street retailers establish or upgrade e-commerce websites. Grants are available for up to 50% of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of £1,500

Elmbridge green business boost

The Elmbridge green business boost supports local businesses with becoming more sustainable. Grants are available to help businesses become more sustainable by reducing carbon emissions. Applications can be made for up to £5,000 with the first £1,000 of any project has no match funding required and anything above £1,000 up to £5,000 requires a 50% match from the applicant.
